Cross-country Rollerbladers For Charity Inspired By Leukemia Survivors

Feb. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Tampa, Florida – Two athletes from New York are rollerblading across the USA in an attempt to raise funds and awareness for select charities through their project “In Motion For A Million”.  The trek will benefit the Huntington’s Disease Society of America and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Dan Bowen, co-founder of “In Motion For A Million” and participating athlete, had no idea the trek would start off so well.   “People just seem to be coming out of the woodwork wanting to support us and donate! The thing I don’t think we ever expected is that we would be approached by so many disease survivors.  We had breakfast yesterday morning with a couple who lost their son to Leukemia.  They were so thankful for what we are doing.  I cannot fathom their pain but I know that I can and will do whatever I can to help bring awareness and extremely necessary funding to this horrible disease.”

The team hopes to raise at least one million dollars while rollerblading across the USA to San Diego, California.  The team has already raised several thousand dollars in donations since their kick off in St. Augustine, Florida, on February 1, 2010.  The athletes are currently in route to Tallahassee, Florida.
