Parkland College in Yorkton, Saskatchewan offers new Crane and Hoist Operator Training Program

Parkland College in Yorkton, Saskatchewan will offer their first Crane and Hoist Operator Training program beginning March 15, 2010. This 11 week course offers both theory and practical hands-on training to introduce applicants into the industry.

Feb. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Parkland College in Yorkton, Saskatchewan will offer their first Crane and Hoist Operator Pre-Employment Program commencing on March 15, 2010.  This 11 week program, consisting of 9 weeks of theory and 2 weeks of practical, hands-on training, will be delivered at the campus in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan.  Classes will run from Monday through Thursday starting March 15, 2010 and ending May 28, 2010.  The Western Trade Training Institute from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, who are accredited by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission and Industry certification, will deliver the program.


This program will prepare participants for employment as operators in heavy construction, oil, gas, mining sectors and other industries where crane and hoist, boom trucks and picker truck operations are required.  Pre-employment training is designed for persons who have no employment or skills in the trade, but would like to enroll in training in order to enter a particular trade.  Trade time and academic credit may be granted to those who find employment in the trade and register as an apprentice with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC).

The Crane and Hoist Operator Training Program course outline includes:  crane and hoist trade introduction; shop equipment; safe work practices; rigging and reeving operations; maintenance operations; general hoisting operations; variable operating factors of cranse; hydraulic/conventional mobile and crawler crane operation; boom and picker truck operations.

With the addition of this new Crane Operator Program, the Parkland College is expanding it's Trades and Industrial Training courses to keep pace with the ever-increasing industry demands of skilled workers and tradespersons.  Registration space is limited in this new class, and it is expected to fill up quickly.
