Feb. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Tour d’Afrique's New Trans-India Bicycle Adventure Allows Participants to Choose the Challenge of the Full 2050 Mile Route or One of Two Shorter Tour Segments

Toronto-based Tour d'Afrique (http://www.tourdafrique.com/), a small, socially responsible bike tour company with huge intentions, announces that registration is now open for a January 2011 departure of a cycling adventure from the Taj Mahal in Agra to Kanyakumari at the southern tip of the Indian sub continent.

The cycling expedition features 37 riding days, each ranging from 40–125 km (25-78 miles), as well as 9 rest days. Riders may choose to do the entire 3,300 km (2050 miles) north to south route or opt for one of two shorter tour segments.

The 2011 Indian Adventure Bicycle Expedition  http://www.tourdafrique.com/dreamtours/show/58 departs Agra on Jan. 29, 2011 enroute to the southern tip of India and the confluence of the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Mannar and the Indian Ocean, passing through, among many others, the colorful desert cities of Rajasthan, elbowing through Mumbai and relaxing on Goa’s beaches.

A 100 Euro registration fee secures the reservation. The entry fee of 3850 Euros is due on Oct. 29, 2010. The rate includes tour leaders, vehicle support and comfortable nightly lodgings. Meals are taken at various restaurants and roadside eateries along the way.

Designated a Tour d’Afrique “DreamTour” (http://www.tourdafrique.com/dreamtours), the route was designed by Brendan McLean, an inspired visitor to the Tour d’Afrique website and promoted through the online community where enough other riders signed on to make it a confirmed departure.

“The concept is quite simple,” explains Tour d’Afrique’s founder Henry Gold. “You begin with a dream trip that you wish someone would help you implement. Then with our help, you map out a route and an itinerary and our cycling community around the world helps make it a reality. DreamTours may very well revolutionize the way cycling tours around the world are created.”

The Indian Adventure Tour was designed to offer three choices of distance and dates. The options are:

-The Full Tour - Agra to Kanyakumari / 3,300 km /January 29 to March 15 / Cost: €3850
-Kings & Sultans - Agra to Mumbai / 1,600 km / January 29 to February 17 / Cost: €2000
-Bollywood & Beaches - Mumbai to Kanyakumari / 2,100 km / February 19 to March 15 / Cost: €2200

Other current Dream Tours now confirmed or close to achieving critical mass of participants include a July 11, 2010 departure of the Amber Route (St. Petersburg to Venice), a North American Epic (Key West to Anchorage) and the Mediterranean Circuit (a scenic loop around the entire Mediterranean Sea).
