The Good Samaritan Hospital is proud to announce that it now participates in Highmark Blue Shield FreedomBlue Medicare insurance programs. Pittsburgh-based Highmark (www.highmark.com) is the largest health insurance provider in Pennsylvania.

LEBANON, PA – The Good Samaritan Hospital is proud to announce that it now participates in Highmark Blue Shield FreedomBlue Medicare insurance programs.  Pittsburgh-based Highmark (www.highmark.com) is the largest health insurance provider in Pennsylvania.

“We are proud to now be a participating provider with Highmark FreedomBlue Medicare insurance plans,” said Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Robert Richards.  “As a participating provider, patients will now pay less out of pocket for their care.”  


“Lebanon County residents choose The Good Samaritan Hospital more than any other hospital for their healthcare needs.  We are delighted to provide Highmark’s Medicare customers with another option for healthcare services,” Richards added.


The Highmark Medicare agreement includes a variety of services from The Good Samaritan Hospital, including hospital care, diagnostic testing (laboratory, imaging), transitional care unit, rehabilitation and more.  


Highmark Medicare customers may be interested to know that Highmark Blue Shield has designated The Good Samaritan Hospital as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care. To date, more than 400 facilities nationwide have received a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care designation.  Blue Distinction Centers for Cardiac Care demonstrate their commitment to quality care, resulting in better overall outcomes for cardiac patients. The Good Samaritan Hospital meets evidence-based clinical criteria, developed in collaboration with expert physicians’ and medical organizations, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), and is subject to periodic re-evaluation as criteria continue to evolve.*
