New Hybrid Manufactured Homes Appeal To Baby Boomers

The manufactured home industry is thriving by designing for active seniors. Features like energy windows and appliances help control costs of living. Save over $25,000.00 by comparing costs.
Feb. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- This recession has created new housing concepts and the manufactured home industry is thriving. Baby boomers are selling their site-built homes and are looking seriously at hybrid options in manufactured and modular homes. Between 30% and 40% of new retirees plan to downsize to a smaller ranch-style home, and half of those plan on moving to a new state. South and North Carolina top the preferences of baby boomers who will retire in the next decade, according to a survey to be released this week from home builder Del Webb.

One builder, Cavco, is listening to active seniors who want energy saving windows, wider doorways and lighting controls as standard features. Under the Fleetwood brand name, Cavco is just releasing 2010 floor plans with designer color options.
From 1000 to 2200 sq. ft, you can choose a home that fits your lifestyle.
The most popular choice in 2009 sales was a ranch-style home with 1260 sq.
a 3 bedroom, 2 bath floor plan. Once the added value of an enclosed porch or back deck is included, the living space can extend to over 1500 sq. ft.

After fifteen months of research, one retiring California couple chose Chesnee, SC as their ideal location and selected the Fleetwood Springhill hybrid manufactured home as the best “costs of living” choice. “We love the lower utilities bills, even in the winter,” they both shared.  Go to to see photos of their new home, and read more about their story as they searched for the ideal retirement home.
