Jan. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Radio Zeeland DMP Americas Inc. (RZDMPA) provides Global Anti-Piracy Maritime Security Solutions, including advanced security options for Ships, Yachts, Ports, Oil Rigs, and Pipelines. Their Maritime Early Detection System (MEDS) is an integrated system to detect intrusion from multiple quadrants in advance, thereby alerting a ship’s crew or port to be armed and/or prepared to take action. It is the least expensive solution that can dramatically decrease the potential of any act of piracy. The threat of pirates and growing fears that yachts may be their next target have led many owners to equip their vessels with this latest James Bond-like technology.

Ninety percent of the world’s trade moves in containers and nearly half of all incoming U.S. trade moves by ship. Pirates are more aggressive. For many, yacht security is becoming a worldwide concern. As a super-yacht owner, it is essential to have this sort of technology. The average super-yacht is worth $1 million per meter, according to the calculations of some experts, making them tempting prey for pirates. What many people forget is that, when at sea, a vessel must be able to protect itself, as any form of help could be hours away, assuming that the crew can raise an alarm in time and if anyone can be bothered to respond.

On November 15, 2008 Sirius Star an 8 month old supertanker with 100 million in crude on board was hijacked. The pirates seized control in a safe zone 450 miles offshore in just 16 minutes. Sirius was released after January 8, 2009 after a reported 3 million dollar ransom was paid. In a similar situation on December 5, 2008 Pirates attempted to take a Danish ship off the coast of Tanzania. This ship was prepared and avoided the pirates because they detected their presence and took evasive action, preventing the boarding. This is exactly why every vessel should not leave the port without a Maritime Early Detection System.

Maritime piracy is a threat that is on the increase. By October 2009, piracy attacks had already surpassed 2008 numbers. Many experts say they anticipate further increases in piracy not just off East Africa, but worldwide. The ship-borne measures that RZDMPA provides make successful hijackings less likely. Best of all MEDS can be installed while the ship remains in service in order to eliminate costly down time.

Dave Leone, Director at RZDMPA has definitely made the world a safer place for their clients by providing them with years of protection against the continuing threats our world faces. RZDMPA installs and designs systems that secure your vessels, cargo, property, revenues and the lives of your crew and personnel.
