January 30, 2010 -  Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic --  Tom McPhee of the World Animal Awareness Society (WA2S) will be in the disaster zone in Haiti to capture compassion after crisis while the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH) team provides aid to the animals.  Two weeks after the devastating earthquake, Tom McPhee will be pointing a lens at the animal rescue efforts now underway including daily briefings with the ARCH team.  Tom will be in Haiti over the next two weeks documenting the animal relief efforts.

Tom will be going in with the ARCH team headed by SODOPRECA and consisting of members of WSPA and IFAW.  We will be part of a convoy that leaves early Monday morning the 1st of February to cross the boarder into Haiti and the earthquake zone.  They have already made one trip in and back and told me of the total devastation that awaits us.  Tom was asked to load up on water and treats for the people we encounter.  For the work to go smoothly it is important to help the people as well for they truly are all in great need. In the truck Tom will be travelling will be 4 other animal rescue members, we are to be in country for nearly a week - embedded if you will.  There is a convoy from the UN we will be joining up with who will also provide some umbrella protection.
