Jan. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The Ruby Award honors women who work to improve and significantly impact the lives of women and girls, and inspire and encourage other women.
The 2010 Ruby Award honorees are Dilkhwaz Ahmed, Executive Director, License to Freedom;  Teri Burg, Executive Director, Stand Up For Kids;  Margaret Eilerman, Community Advocate and Counselor;  Susie Faber, Founder, Stylish Noggins;  and Cyndi Jones, Director, The Center for an Accessible Society.
The awards will be presented on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at "A Splash of Fashion" fundraising event at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront.  Proceeds from the event will benefit local at risk women and girls including young women recently emancipated from foster care with mentoring, housing and education and head-of-household women improving their employment prospects with education.  Internationally, projects helping women and girls in Istanbul and Tijuana will also benefit.  
This 38th annual event includes a luncheon, boutique and theatrical fashion show featuring spring fashions from Macy’s in Fashion Valley, produced by Gretchen Productions.  Tickets are $80.  The event begins at 10:00 am.  Contact Pat Robbins at 858-277-2988 for tickets or information.
Soroptimist International of San Diego, part of Soroptimist International of the Americas, was founded in 1931.  Its members join with 90,000 Soroptimists in more than 120 countries to contribute time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women and girls.  In addition to the Ruby Award program, they also participate in the Soroptimists STOP Trafficking project ot raise awareness about sexual trafficking and advocate for its victims.
