Doorways Ltd. Announces Partnership with the Joseph Rainer Educational Foundation

Jan. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Bryn Mawr, PA (January 25, 2010) – Doorways Ltd, a firm that specializes in villa and apartment rental vacations in Italy, France and Spain announces its partnership with The Joseph Rainer Educational Foundation (JREF).  From now, through February 19, 2010 anyone who donates a gift of $100 to the foundation will be entered to win a one week trip to Villa Cardinale, set amongst the vineyards and orchards of Tuscany.

The mission of The Joseph Rainer Educational Foundation is to create quality educational opportunities for the underprivileged young women of Uganda.  

According to a 2009 UNICEF study, an overwhelming 79% of Ugandan girls do not finish primary education.  “Many of these young women do not finish school because their parents cannot afford the fees.  Often, these young women are forced to marry so that the family can collect her dowry, and this breeds a repetitive cycle that stunts community development.  Our goal is to break this cycle at the root level by empowering young women with an education,” says Helga Rainer, chairperson of the foundation.

JREF affects change by not only providing scholarships to young girls in Uganda, but also strengthening educational institutions through financial and administrative support.  The foundation supports St. Clare’s Girls’ High School, which was established by the late Joseph Rainer and his wife, Juliet in 1999.  Proceeds from JREF contribute to the maintenance of classrooms, dormitories, computer and science labs, school supplies, and professional development for teachers.

The partnership between Doorways and Joseph Rainer Foundation came very naturally, says Kit Burns. She explains, “Joseph Rainer was an Italian missionary who dedicated 53 years of his life to improving Uganda through education.  It is our honor help continue his mission.”
