Hipsters and Hassids - Exhibition Celebrates Two Cultural Groups

Jan. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- The February 13 “Hipsters and Hassids” event celebrates two diverse cultural groups who maintain an uneasy coexistence in the creatively charged neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Sudin paints portraits and urban landscapes to reflect the similarities these groups have despite their conflicting values and lifestyles.  Sudin is an observant Jew and young artist who was rigorously schooled in traditional illustration techniques and creates paintings that are influenced by emerging trends in graphic novels, graffiti and the street art of Brooklyn.

Celebrity Roster: Celebrity invitees include: Yuri Foreman (current world champion boxer-welter weight, also famous for studying to become a Rabbi) Levi Okunov (Hassidic Fashion designer, famous for mixing religious cultural symbols with high-end fashion world flair.) Web publications such as Jewcy and HEEB Magazine will be covering the event.

Event Format: The venue will be arranged with a gallery exhibition on one end, and a performance stage on the other. Artists and other performers will mingle in with the crowd, play music, and create the vibe of a Brooklyn street party. Substantial refreshments will be served. On stage a line-up of indie bands will play as the gallery evening evolves into an after-party.  A suggested donation will be solicited at the door.
