Jan. 25, 2010 - PRLog -- HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA 10/22/2009 – The Ironman® triathlon is a grueling race.  For those of you who are not familiar to what Ironman® is, it is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile run.  Most of the races are run in brutal heat, (sometimes over 100 degrees) but this year in Tempe, Arizona the conditions were perfect!

Dr. Gonzales, the owner of P3 Sports Care in Huntington Beach, CA, traveled through the night, eluding all of Arizona’s numerous speed traps, just to treat the racers on the 3 days prior to the race.  “It was a lot of fun!  Most everyone was aware of ART® and a lot of them said they look for our tent at every race.”

Racers from around the country and world attended the race, all with very different stories.  One racer was a double amputee, Rudy Garcia-Tolson, the first to do so in an Ironman®.  “It is really inspiring to see the determination of these people; many of them have kids and full time jobs, but they find the time to train 15 to 20 hours a week for this race.  It gives me no excuse when I don’t want to get out of bed to do my training” stated Dr. Gonzales.

Dr. Gonzales and his team of ART® providers from around the US and Canada also worked on the medical team on race day, catching runners as they fell across the finish line.  “It was a very self-rewarding experience when you see some of the athletes you have treated cross the finish line and start sobbing because they are so happy.  It is a very emotional race to say the least.”

ART® has been a part of the Ironman® races for the past year, so if you signed up for a race, this might be the tent you want to stop by to get a “pre-race tune-up.”
