Jan. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Occupying one of only 19 home sites in the newest collection of single-family homes in Cape Harbour, the Funky Fish House Showcase is an original design with unique amenities that previews the style and concept of this new neighborhood.  It’s open to the public for touring February 4-7, 11-14 and 18-21 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Thursdays through Saturdays and noon to 5:00 pm on Sundays.

The home’s location at The Marina at Cape Harbour places it at the center of boating activity in the community.  Each home site may have its own private boat slip, most large enough to accommodate a boat up to 50 feet. Restaurants, shops, boutiques, galleries, the salon and spa, interior design studio, boat dealerships and the full service marina add to the Cape Harbour resort-style living experience.

The Funky Fish House is architecturally styled and colorfully appointed inside and out to reflect the cottage communities of Key West. This “Green-Built” cottage has stunning water views and takes advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings of the location. It has all the necessary amenities and incorporates the latest in low-cost energy technology. The second floor Master Retreat contains a full kitchen, family room, bedroom, bath with jetted tub and shower, two walk-in closets and laundry facilities.

The first floor contains a private one bedroom studio suite with kitchenette, bath, walk-in closet and laundry. On the ground floor, there is an air conditioned dog kennel, an elevator and a two car garage that becomes a shelter for four cars with the addition of specially designed hydraulic lifts. Outdoor stairs lead to the dock level and the “Tall Tales” boat storage room.

The home has a traditional metal roof and makes ample use of sliding glass doors and large windows to take advantage of the spectacular water views. All windows are wind-rated impact glass. Open-cell foam insulation that reduces utility costs by up to 50% encases walls and ceilings. Outdoor decks and docks are constructed of low maintenance, non-splintering decking manufactured from 50% recycled materials.

The home was built by Marvin Homes, one of eight designated builders of Funky Fish Houses.  It was designed by artist and designer, Steve Turner, owner of Bradford and Company Design Group, Inc.  Interior design is by Cherie Clark of Cherie Clark Interiors. The custom deck and the dock were constructed by Frances Esquerre, owner of Tropical Marine Construction. The Designated Builders of Funky Fish Houses are Florida Lifestyle Homes of Fort Myers, Inc., Island Development, LLC, Marino Construction Group, Inc., Marvin Homes, Paul Homes, PGI Homes, Tudor Villas Corporation and Wyman Stokes Builder, Inc.
