Jan. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Centennial College is offering a wide variety of special interest and continuing education courses for adult learners looking to kick-start their new year's resolutions.

A timely course this winter is Skid Control and Collision Avoidance, which puts students in the driver's seat to learn the correct response techniques for emergency braking and skid control. This half-day Saturday course combines interactive classroom instruction with hands-on, in-car training on an outdoor skid pad.

The popular Car Care Clinic for Women returns this winter, geared for women who want to learn some basic automotive maintenance skills while discovering what's going on under the hood of their vehicle. The Saturday-morning clinic is taught in a hands-on shop environment and covers roadside emergency procedures.

Does your furnace intimidate you? Centennial offers a unique weekend seminar that introduces homeowners and house shoppers to the different types of central heating equipment and provides some preventative maintenance tips. This course is not intended to teach individuals to repair their own furnace equipment.

Other recently introduced courses include Home Staging 101, Home Renovation Basics, the Smart Divorce and a host of new online courses in such subjects as landlord and tenant law, event planning and medical transcription skills.

Centennial is hosting a free continuing education information session on Wednesday, Jan. 6 from 5 to 7 pm, at Progress Campus, 941 Progress Ave., just east of Markham Rd. in Scarborough.

Centennial offers more than 1,000 evening, weekend and distance courses this winter. Visit www.centennialcollege.ca/ce or call 416-289-5300.
