Five Simple Tips to Ensure your Site will Convert

Jan. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- If “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” that tells us how paramount visual intake is to overall perception and action.  Did you know effective Web design not only has to cater to straight on vision, but peripheral vision as well?  That can be quite challenging for someone without expertise in effective Web design.

How your Web site is perceived makes all the difference in the world as to what actions your visitors will take.  You want to lead them through down a sales path, not have them click away quickly and go on to the next site.  Ask us about this at http://www.bizwala.com/

Five simple tips for Las Vegas Web Design clients to know:

1.   Use colors smartly. Too many colors will not only confuse visitors’ eyes as to where to start, but it will make them click away in irritation.  Two or three colors that compliment and work well with each other while psychologically working towards the goals of your Web site are all you need.  In this case, less really is more.

2.   Be consistent with the overall strategy.  Keep colors, fonts, graphics, etc. complimentary of each other without competing with each other.  If there is a page element you want emphasized, while it can have different symmetry and alignment than the rest of the Web page, the majority of your site needs to be consistent.

3.   Always group related items together.  Everything displayed on your site needs to have a purpose and it needs to make sense.  The use of fine lines or white space to divide sections works much more effectively and is much more aesthetically appealing than bold, chunky block lines.

4.   Have an easy and sensible navigation.  Primary menus should only fall across the top of your Web pages and/or down the left side.  Of course menus in the footer are very acceptable.  Internal link structures should have a sensible flow and work properly, taking the users exactly where they need to be.

5.   Make “next steps” crystal clear.  Visitors to your site should be able to virtually walk through the entire sales funnel on your Web site through a call-to-action path you have created without them even knowing they were lead.  A clean, crisp, simple layout will make it very easy for visitors to know where to go to “buy now” or “contact us.”

Another quick tip for Las Vegas web design clients is this:  in regard to Flash technology, the rule of less is more comes in to play here too.  If you wish to use it for some flair and a bit of pop, feel free.  Just don’t go on the overkill train or it will not only confuse visitors, it will distract from your messaging and sales funnel and it will cause frustration.  The frustration will make them click away quickly and go to the next site.  Plus, if not placed properly into the Web design, Flash can work again the optimization of your site.
