Honeywell Security set to showcase the T-HAWK MAV unmanned aerial vehicle for Commercial purpose

Jan. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Honeywell's T-HAWK Micro-Air Vehicle (MAV) is a 13-inch unmanned surveillance aircraft. The T-HAWK MAV provides an innovative platform for a wide range of military and commercial applications. Developed through the DARPA Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration program, the MAV features vertical takeoff and landing, wide operational environment and a variety of interchangeable sensor and communication packages.

The industry response to the T-HAWK MAV during the pre-showcase road show has been very exciting.  Honeywell has booked one immediate order and expects several more from various private commercial interests in the coming months.

“Many different sectors are interested in the non-military use of the T-HAWK MAV, for example the petrochemical sector, civil defense and police forces. In UAE and the Middle East, the T-HAWK MAV will be used to monitor border areas, cities, coasts and vital installations like Power, Oil and Gas.  Honeywell’s customized commercial T-HAWK MAV integrates applications specially designed for the usage in urban surveillance and integration in critical infrastructure protection, an important feature for customers considering commercial use.

At a time when the security agencies are grappling with increasing incidents of violent attacks, MAV-makers are offering their eyes in the sky as an intelligence solution. Honeywell’s T-Hawk is a portable moving device that flies at 10,000 ft.
