Follow on Google News | Greensmart Announces The Smart, Safe Way To Tote Your WineGreenSmart rounds out its food and beverage collection with the introduction of wine bottle totes. GreenSmart has expanded its application of non-toxic Neogreene from laptop sleeves lunch bags, water bottle koozies, and now wine bottle totes.
By: Debbie Williams The Neogreene collection is user-friendly as well as eco-friendly. GreenSmart’s wine totes feature an easy-load front and a cinched collar to accommodate different neck sizes; they come in four color combinations to coordinate with the lunch bag and koozie collections. Like the other containers, they fold flat for storage, and like many of GreenSmart’s products, are named after endangered animals. The single-bottle tote, the Finback, is named for the second largest whale on earth, while the two-bottle tote is the Bowhead, named for a whale that can smash through ice 27 inches thick to create breathing holes. Honoring their commitment to global health, GreenSmart donates 10% of profits to the World Wildlife Fund and other organizations supporting endangered species. Neogreene is GreenSmart’s proprietary solution to stinky, toxic neoprene, well known as the wetsuit fabric. Made from non-toxic water-based adhesives, Neogreene is refreshingly absent neoprene’s telltale “chemical” GreenSmart developed Neogreene out of an increasing awareness of the human and environmental hazards of neoprene. Neoprene, while having valuable applications in the automotive and electronics industries, “smells” because it contains powerful toxins like formaldehyde and toluene, now linked with cancer and developmental problems. California’s Proposition 65 brought to public awareness the need to avoid these substances. GreenSmart is the first western Nevada County, Calif. business to be green certified by Keep the Sierra Green. Keep the Sierra Green has recognized GreenSmart’s “valuable contributions to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and protect the health and vibrancy of the Sierra Nevada.” The designation also makes responsible choices easier for the customer, with so many businesses calling themselves “green” that the term has lost meaning. GreenSmart, based in Grass Valley, Calif., has been making bags and accessories since 1995. Under the name Shoreline, they initially made the products by the same methods as other suppliers, switching to eco-conscious materials in 2006 and introducing Neogreene in 2009. Their laptop bags, briefcases, and other items are sold nationwide through college bookstores and luggage and specialty stores, as well as at numerous e-tailers online.
