Songwriter Performs And Teaches Performers How To Use Social Media To Launch Careers, Dreams
Songwriter Matthew Moran used his expertise as a published author, social media expert and marketing consultant to launch a second career and now is leading workshops to teach other performers to do the same.
Matt performs at The Freakin' Frog (4700 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV), one of the premiere off-strip venues for live music, at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20th.
He will perform songs from his first CD, "Girls, Songs, and Other Delusions" as well as songs from his new CD project, "Where I Belong." He performs at "the Frog" with a couple of other local musicians.
Not only is Matt performing in Vegas for the first time, he is also in town sharing his background in business and technology with Songsalive!, an international songwriter advocacy and education organization.
"It was really the ultimate example of the cobbler's children having no shoes," Matt says, "I had segmented my professional life from music but last year decided it was time to marry the two."
The results have been dramatic as Matt has seen bookings and revenue increase steadily. Additionally, he is quickly becoming known as an expert willing to share his knowledge with other songwriters.
On Monday, January 18th, Matt will lead a workshop titled, "The Songwriter & Social Media: An Effective Roadmap for Online Presence." Matt, an expert in social media, shares free or low-cost tools to help performers organize their business and promote their music. The workshop is at 6 p.m. at Sam Ash Music (2747 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV).
Matt comes at this naturally. He has been a business, technology, and marketing consultant for many years and while he has been writing music and performing for almost 20 years, he has never applied his technology and business knowledge to his music.
Matt who has keynoted business & social media presentations for publisher Pearson/Prentice Hall, McDonalds, the Great Plains Technology Conference, and numerous other professional organizations. He has found that the same comfort he has on stage as a presenter translates well to music performances.
"Both are about connecting with the audience and sharing an experience and information. One might be an approach to managing a marketing campaign or a music tour, the other sharing a story or feeling in a song."
