Jan. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- The Enfield branch of the UK’s leading drinks distributor Tradeteam has become the first drinks logistics firm to be awarded silver status under Transport for London’s Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).

Tradeteam was recently named among the first 19 of 357 registered members to achieve the prestigious accreditation.

FORS, a key project in TfL’s London Freight Plan, provides a quality and performance benchmark to help freight companies working in the capital become safer, more efficient and more environmentally friendly. Tradeteam has been actively involved with the scheme since its launch in April 2008.

To achieve silver status companies must provide and maintain six months of accurate benchmarking data including CO2 emissions, congestion and collision figures. This data will form the basis of threshold standards set for the first Gold awards in Spring 2011.

Tradeteam Operations Managers John Crosk and Russ Wordie recently collected the award from Kulveer Ranger, Transport Advisor to the Mayor of London, at a ceremony held at The Vinopolis in Central London.

John Crosk, Operations Manager at Tradeteam’s Enfield Distribution Centre, said: “This accolade confirms Tradeteam’s position as one of London’s best performing freight operators. FORS acknowledges operational efficiency within the industry and we are extremely pleased to be rewarded for our commitment to best practice.

“Tradeteam is continuously looking to raise standards and improve its operational performance. As the largest distributor of beer into Central London, delivering to 22,500 outlets, we recognise our responsibility to prioritise safety and help reduce the industry’s environmental impact in the capital.

“Under the scheme our staff have attended workshops receiving valuable advice about accident reduction and new laws and legislations. We have gained a great deal from being involved and committed to this scheme.”
