Jan. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- J.E. Charlotte Construction recently completed much-needed repairs and fortification on a sentimental community landmark that has served as the home to all Scouts for 25 years.

The Scout House, located on Greenwood Avenue beside Dallas White Park, was built in 1984 by the Early Bird Kiwanis as a permanent home for local Scout troops.  Termites, failed air-conditioning and an overwhelmed septic system made the house inhabitable and left Scouts looking for new meeting places.

The local community rallied the troops, accepting donations and holding fundraisers, to raise enough money, equipment and appliances to make the project a reality.  J.E. Charlotte Construction Corp. President and CEO, Jeffrey Charlotte, enlisted the help of staff and others, including members of the Gulf Coast Building Exchange, where Charlotte currently serves as chairman.

Under the leadership of J.E. Charlotte Construction’s staff, renovations of the Scout House began on October 3 and were finished in time to save a Christmas tradition.  The newly updated Scout House was transformed into the Santa House for the Poinsettia Festival.

The Scout House is now ready for many more meetings, laughter and learning to happen within its walls.  In addition to eliminating termites, fixing the air-conditioning and septic tank, the building now is up to current hurricane code.

Giving back to the community is a cornerstone of J.E. Charlotte’s business model.  In addition to the work on the Scout House, J.E. Charlotte, along with fellow members of the Gulf Coast Builder’s Exchange, donated materials and labor to construct the new obstacle course at Camp XRAYD for Teen Court of Sarasota.  Jeff Charlotte also serves on the board of directors of the Sarasota YMCA, Children First and the Argus Foundation.

Notable building projects complete

J.E. Charlotte has a number of notable buildings to its credit, including additions to Venice HealthPark, the Gateway Office Park in Venice, the North Port Village Shopping Center, and the Landings Office Park in Sarasota, 1250 Medical Plaza, and Galleria on Venice Avenue. He also constructed the distinctive Tervis Tumbler headquarters and manufacturing facility in Venice.  J.E. Charlotte Construction is currently completing construction on the $6 Penn Station, located off Tallevast Road near the Sarasota Bradenton Airport.
