Jan. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- The lack of the online supply of frozen Dutch kroketten, frikandellen, bitterballen, and herring to individual customers has been the topic of many online discussions and special requests to Typical Dutch Stuff, an online shop which specializes in the export of typically Dutch food, souvenirs, and gifts.

According to Wendy de Laat, Managing Director of Typical Dutch Stuff, customers have been requesting the possibility of shipping frozen Dutch snacks for quite some time. "I knew it had to be possible, but that it would not be easy," says Wendy. "Keeping the costs as low as possible in order to make the products attractive to the individual customer has been a real challenge." Typical Dutch Stuff has managed to offer their customers with an inexpensive method to enjoy all the frozen Dutch food they want. They cooperate with UPS (United Parcel Service) to ensure a safe, affordable, and fast delivery of all orders.

Selling and shipping frozen products is a complicated process. Employees have to be trained in order to handle the Dry Ice, which is the agent that is used to keep the products frozen during transit. "You have to know exactly how to treat it," explains Wendy. "Moreover, a certificate is required in order to ship it by air, due to safety regulations." Dry Ice, the solid form of Carbon Dioxide, should be handled with care. One of the most important aspects to take into consideration is that Dry Ice is extremely cold. It is colder than regular ice. Typical Dutch Stuff adds safety instructions to all orders, which list all the information and precautions in detail.

Is this whole endeavor safe, one might ask? "It's very, very safe," Wendy says. If the safety instructions are followed, the unpacking of the box is not dangerous at all. One customer from Spain emailed: "Everything arrived safe and well. Impressive! Now I can finally have bitterballen when and where I want!"

The selection is not only limited to snacks, fish, and pies. "One of the things I miss the most when I'm abroad is Dutch bread," Wendy laughs. "There is really nothing like it." Typical Dutch Stuff also serves as a small bakery that sells daily fresh bread. The bread is frozen on the day it is ordered, which ensures that it arrives as fresh as possible.

Frozen products can be shipped to all European countries. A small order can be shipped to the United Kingdom for around €25.00. This includes the shipping costs, Dry Ice, and a special insulated box. Typical Dutch Stuff is also able to ship to a selection of other countries worldwide, such as Japan and Hong Kong.
