Follow on Google News | Chicago Non-Profit Gets Listed and Makes FriendsLiteracy Volunteers of Illinois (LVI) recently joined twitter and is making use of the new 'list' feature to gain 800 followers.
The LVI Twitter account was opened on October 23, 2009. In only a few months, the number of followers has skyrocketed. The Twitter ‘list’ feature allows users to link profiles based on a common topic. LVI is linked to other literacy networks in Chicago and the State, helping to spread awareness for the organization and its cause. LVI also has its own ‘list’, consisting of contributors for this year’s annual SCRABBLE fundraiser, held November 14. The ‘list’ gives LVI added leverage to attract donors for the fundraiser. LVI Communications Associate Allison Payne stated, “Its list feature has allowed us to promote our contributors within a forward-thinking and creative platform.” Literacy Volunteers of Illinois (LVI) is a statewide organization committed to developing and supporting volunteer literacy programs that help families, adults and out of school teens to increase their literacy skills. In addition, LVI is the founder of the Jump Start program, which matches volunteers, primarily retired teachers, to serve as one-to-one tutors and mentors to youth residing in Illinois Youth Centers. Further Jump Start information can be found on our website, www.lvillinois.org, by emailing info@lvillinois.org or by calling 312-857-1582. # # # Literacy Volunteers of Illinois is a statewide organization committed to developing and supporting volunteer literacy programs that help families, adults, and out of school teens increase their literacy skills.
