Follow on Google News | Papier Mache Revives As Popularity Grows For Products Made From This Ancient ProcessIn recent years through the talents of designers such as Dianne Fox who who has just joined makers-online.co.uk there has been a great revival of interest in the art of Papier Mache.
By: makers-online.co.uk Dianne is an artist with her own unique style and creates visually stunning artworks that are colourful, vibrant and original. She was a finalist in the prestigious 'Gift of the Year' award. Dianne began experimenting with Papier Mache while studying for an arts degree at the Surrey Institute of Fine Art where she graduated with Honours. Now based in rural Northumberland where she has a gallery and workshop she continues to indulge her passion for colour, texture and unusual forms using iridescent Papier Marche and mixed media artwork to produce a range which includes Jewellery, Mirrors, Wall Hangings and a menagerie of fantastic Bird and Animal wall plaques. Artisans have been producing a wide range of objects in Papier Mache since the invention of paper in China around the 2nd century A.D. It became fashionable in Europe during the 17th century and reached the height of its popularity in the second half of the 19th when Papier Mache products could be found in a variety of forms from Snuff Boxes to Bathtubs. Dianne has taken this ancient art form and recreated it for the 21st century by creating new and exciting works of art to adorn our homes.
