Coupon clipping can become tedious. By shopping online and spending a couple of extra minutes before checking out, you can save big on your purchases.

Dec. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- It’s a tough economic time for Americans. Unemployment is up and the value of the dollar is down making it harder to maintain the same quality of life which most of us have become accustomed to. Credit is becoming scarce for even those who have always paid their bills on time and have never maxed out their cards. The day has past when we could blissfully sit back and listen to our iPods or vegetate in front of our big screen LED TVs without a care in the world.

The tightening of our belts isn’t being felt by us alone. Dubai has recently made the news for their financial troubles. In a country that designs its own islands to look like palm trees, has rotating sky scrapers and is currently in the process of building the tallest structure ever built, the financial market resembles that of the United States in January of 2009. Their largest construction company, responsible for the design and building of some of the most impressive structures today, is struggling to pay off its creditors. This, along with many other factors, is causing investor confidence to drop and the markets in Dubai to fall.

In order to fight off the pinch of this recession, many conscientious shoppers have turned to clipping coupons in order to save. We are all aware of the Sunday newspaper which contains the traditional coupon flyers. Many of these coupons can be great money savers especially if you have built up a stock of coupons for different products. It may seem old-fashioned, but in a time where bank accounts are running dry, it can be a valuable tool in the quest to trim shopping bills.

Not many people are aware that there exist many coupon sites on the internet which, in addition to the coupons you can clip from the Sunday newspaper, can help you save big at checkout. These sites allow users to search for coupons for particular brands or types of foods as well as peruse the hundreds of coupons they have on their sites.

If you’re used to doing shopping online, before you get to checkout, search the internet for coupon codes. There are sites which have coupon codes for many of the major retailers such as Amazon, Target, and Walmart. I have seen codes for free shipping, 50% off of an order, free bonus gifts, and gift certificates for different amounts. If you do much of your shopping online you can save a significant amount.

Too often the internet is overlooked when coupon hunting. But if you spend an extra couple of minutes looking before you check out, it could end up saving you big bucks during the course of a year.
