Dec. 29, 2009 - PRLog -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Songbird, a simple media solution to discover, play, and sync music, now supports the Nokia N900, HTC Hero, Motorola Droid, and the Palm Pre. Songbird also unveiled several new features and a redesigned website.

New features from Songbird make music discovery and management for mobile listening easier than ever.  Songbird, an open media player, now includes Mass Storage (MSC) Device Support, enabling an even wider range of users to move and manage music on their devices in a seamless fashion. And while downloading and streaming are most critical to many, for users with large CD collections, Songbird now includes CD Ripping, which makes importing their favorite CDs fast, easy and straightforward.

The new Songbird software enables media management and syncing for several smart phones including the HTC Hero and the Motorola Droid – both based on Google’s Android – the Nokia N900 and the Palm Pre.

“Consumers who choose the power of the Nokia N900 will have this option for easily managing and listening to their music using Songbird’s media player,” said Rob Taylor, Director, Solutions & Forum, Nokia Americas.

Songbird enables consumers to transfer their collection of music to smart phones and MP3 players, find new music and purchase songs. Additional functionality, provided by Songbird partners, offers recommendations for new music based on what customers have been listening to recently, notifies listeners when their favorite artists are coming to town, and lets them buy tickets right from Songbird.

“The latest generation of smart phones are reshaping consumer expectations of the mobile experience and we are excited to offer a robust media platform for the hottest smart phones on the market,” said Jerrell Jimerson, CEO of Songbird. “As mobile phones become the center piece of a consumer’s media life, it’s great to be able to deliver a solution that dramatically improves the experience.”

The newly designed interface makes it simple to sync their collection of music to their favorite device.  Songbird’s media platform for the PC, Mac, and Linux are available from its newly redesigned website at http://www.getsongbird.com.
