By: Simply the Best Events “The Generational Torch Awards is an awesome aspect of the prayer breakfast for many reasons,” states Anna Henderson, President of the GBCC. “The award salutes African American families whose businesses started generations ago, yet continue to thrive to this day. We, as a people, have had to face so many adversities, but the fact these businesses have been able to rise above the odds is certainly commendable. The companies we are recognizing have set a wonderful example that family business is, indeed, good business and good for Atlanta.” Held each year on the Saturday before the legislature begins, the prayer breakfast fosters GBCC’s efforts to advance public policy issues and programs. In addition to the Generational Torch Awards, another attraction of the prayer breakfast is the fact that there will be gubernatorial candidates present to address the issues and concerns that are prevalent in the minority community. Candidates confirmed to date include Thurbert Baker, Roy Barnes, Carl Camon, Jeff Chapman, DuBose Porter, David Poythress and Austin Scott. For more information on the GBCC prayer breakfast, ticket and sponsor opportunities call the GBCC office at (404) 329-4504 or visit online at www.gablackchamberofcommerce.org. # # # The GBCC is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the economic empowerment of small and minority business development statewide.
