Rutgers Business School MBA Team Consulting students to tackle HCESC management challenges

Rutgers Business School MBA Team Consulting students will recommend solutions to management challenges the Hunterdon County Educational Services Commission (HCESC) faces, including the delivery of programs and services for New Jersey school districts

Dec. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- The Hunterdon County Educational Services Commission (HCESC) will work with the MBA Team Consulting program at Rutgers Business School–Newark and New Brunswick (RBS) on a strategic plan to assess its programs, organizational structure, and financial model.

A team of second year MBA students will work as consultants to HCESC recommending solutions to management challenges faced by the agency. “We are very excited to be working alongside HCESC,” said Dr. Susan P. Gilbert, program director and associate dean at RBS. “The Rutgers MBA Team Consulting Program continues to expand its alliances with and make an impact on the New Jersey business community and government.”

The team will work with a faculty advisor, Dr. Gilbert, and faculty experts in corporate strategy, marketing, supply chain management and finance, to bring state-of-the-art analytic tools and methods, as well as a fresh outlook to HCESC’s mission, offerings, and structure.

“We exist to provide for the needs of our school districts,” said HCESC superintendent Dennis Cox. “We are looking to the MBA Team Consulting program to help us strategize on delivering the services they need, make them aware of what we can offer and maintain our financial stability,” he said.

HCESC’s shared-services philosophy, where pooling together resources, benefits all school districts who utilize their agency. Programs like Alternative Education, Special-Ed, and services like co-op purchasing of school supplies and student transportation, give school districts benefits they either wouldn’t be able to do on their own or would provide at a higher cost.

The MBA Team Consulting program was established over 40 years ago and has performed over 1,600 separate reports for clients ranging in size from one-person startups to Fortune 500 firms. This is the second time Rutgers Business School has worked with HCESC through the program.

The 15-week engagement starts in January 2010.
