Dec. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- (Los Angeles, CA) – The RAM Galleri is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the White Cube exhibition, featuring a collaborative musical soundtrack created and contributed by 68 musicians at ccMixter.org.  This unique sonic art installation opens at the Galleri in Oslo, Norway on December 17, 2009 and continues through February 2010, delivering an experience ‘beyond space and time’ through this powerful combination of art and music.

The White Cube Remix project redefines the gallery experience by introducing sound and music into the traditionally quiet gallery space, and was organized by American musicians Gurdonark (Robert Nunnally) and SackJo22 (Susan Joseph), both active community members at ccMixter.  Gurdonark and SackJo22 first composed and recorded ambient samples and spoken word source material, reflecting the central themes of this exhibition -- light and winter in the north, which were then contributed to the ccMixter community for remix under Creative Commons license.  In less than one month, more than 94 original compositions, from ambient music to chill beats, were created by international music makers at ccMixter specifically for the White Cube exhibit.

SackJo22 and Gurdonark compiled a playlist of these 94 original compositions onto an mp3 player that will be installed in the RAM Galleri, thus providing more than six hours of original music as a soundtrack for the White Cube exhibition.  The White Cube Remix installation will also include an interactive component with a computer in the gallery where visitors can further explore the music, artists, and intent of The White Cube Remix by visiting thewhitecube.info, the blog set up to support this project, as well as ccmixter.org, where visitors can explore the remix history and musical source for the contributed compositions.

Gurdonark co-owns the netlabel negativesoundinstitute.com. His “weirdbient” music has been used in over 150 video soundtracks.  Sackjo22 hosts the podcast “The Mixin' Kitchen” at ccMixter. A founding member of recording artists “The Beef Sisters”, her music runs a wide gamut from pop to folk. Her voice has been remixed in close to 200 songs.

ccMixter was founded by the Creative Commons, who transferred operations of the musical website to music start-up ArtisTech Media on its five year anniversary October 28, 2009.  The site advocates, Download, Sample, Cut-up, Share.  The Ram Galleri has since its inception in 1989 shown 170 artistic projects and had more than 4,000 exhibition days.
