SUPPORTING HOLD YOUR HEAD UP ORGANIZATION

Alpha Zeta Omega /Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Chapter

Durham, NC (December 15, 2009)- Alpha Zeta Omega Sorority has been conducting a pantyhose drive to help Hold Your Head Up, an organization that facilitates career development by providing suits to more than 400 woman each year.

The ladies of Alpha Zeta Omega collected 166 pair of pantyhose. The chapter has extraordinary women who have been very involved in giving back to the community at large; they also hosted a drive for the food bank.

About Hold Your Head Up:
The mission of Hold Your Head Up is to provide comprehensive support for low-income women entering the workforce. Hold Your Head Up strives to build the confidence and skills necessary to maintain a career by offering vocational and emotional support to clients.
 
About Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter:
The Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter has a rich history and tradition in providing service to mankind through its programs and services in the Durham community.

The Chapter continues its focus on the Extraordinary Service Program (ESP) implemented by our Centennial International President, Barbara A. McKinzie.  Through this program, we are pleased to offer programs in health awareness, economic opportunities, and educational support in the community.

The Chapter remains dedicated to continue to provide:  (1) educational scholarships to graduating high school seniors, (2) after-school tutorial services through the “Links to Learning Program,” (3) educational seminars to teens, and (4) parenting education.

We support low-income women transitioning into the workforce, by providing career attire, educational resources, job etiquette, and life skills. With these tools women can overcome employment barriers and become self-sufficient.
