“Real Housewife” Jeana Keough’s favorite children’s charity is on Santa’s List

Dec. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- Orangewood Children’s Foundation built a temporary housing facility 25 years ago to shelter Orange County children who are the victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Today, the focus is on helping those children succeed after leaving the California foster care system.

The 44 Women for Children (WFC) contributes to Orangewood Children’s Foundation by nurturing, supporting and inspiring adolescents emancipating from the foster care system on their 18th birthdays. 44 WFC provides mentoring and education, works to increase community awareness about child abuse and neglect, and hosts annual fundraising events.

Earlier this year, the 44 WFC raised over $100,000 at a charity luncheon to fund scholarships for former foster youth who don’t have the benefit of resources or support from family members. Athlete-model Gabrielle Reece, who is married to big wave surfer Laird Hamilton, was the guest speaker at the June luncheon at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach.
