Dec. 15, 2009 - PRLog -- The winners of mifiction’s (http://www.mifiction.co.uk/index.html) competition to find new and talented writers of interactive fiction have been announced. The first prize of £300 was awarded to William Dunn of Barcelona, with a Victorian Vampire story entitled Dead Flowers. Chosen because of its tight plot and gripping story line, judges thought Dead Flowers was well written and full of intrigue.

Second place was awarded to Elizabeth Hopkinson of West Yorkshire for The Masqued Mirror who received £200 for her winning entry. Third place was jointly awarded to Andy Brown of North Berwick in Scotland for Thirty Gold Pieces and Carlo-Jesse Miozzi of Canada for The Oni Infection, who both received £100 each. In addition, six runner up prizes of £50 were awarded as well as a Judges Discretion prize of £100 to Adrian Moar for Yorgi and the world of Pitara.

All winners will be offered a publishing contract with mifiction, giving them the opportunity to see their works available on the new mifiction platform coming out in February 2010.

The competition, which received a fantastic number of entries, encouraged authors to submit exciting and imaginative interactive stories across a wide variety of genres including action, science fiction and romance.

Judges were impressed with the overall standard of submission. Chris Corner of mifiction commented:

“It was great to have so many entries at such a high standard. This certainly made deciding the winners challenging, but we are delighted that we have found so many talented writers. We are really looking forward to working with them and publishing their work in the New Year.”
