Web Developer Promotes Acts of Kindness Worldwide

GiftRipple.com users create a print out that has a tracking code. The next act of kindness the user does, leaves the card with the receiver. The receiver is encouraged to pass a gesture on to someone else, and going to the site to register the code.

Dec. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- Marshville, NC - It started with a recent story of a random act of kindness local web developer Brian Jones heard from his mother. Sitting in a Denny's restaurant in Sarasota FL, his mother's breakfast bill was paid for by a complete stranger. She was very moved by this gesture and passed it on to another patron in the restaurant.

She shared this story with Jones, who is a professional web developer, cub scout leader and active in volunteering. This same day, being truly inspired, GiftRipple.com was born.

"It struck me as I was driving away from Segall's before Thanksgiving, I should have bought that turkey for the family walking in. As I drove away, I realized, I could do something even bigger, and create a website to help promote acts of kindness around the globe. Allowing users of the web site to help perpetuate an act of kindness to someone else." Jones said.

Brian immediately enlisted the help of friend and fellow web developer Tim Havens and within the 15 minute drive home, GiftRipple.com was sketched out. Over the week. Tim and Brian spent countless hours making GiftRipple.com a reality.

Users of GiftRipple.com create a business card print out that has a tracking code on it. The next act of kindness a member does, leaves the card with the receiver. The receiver is encouraged to pass the gesture on to someone else, but first stopping by giftripple.com to register the code.

"We really would like to see the global path that kindness can take. How far will one path go? Will my purchase of a cheeseburger in Marshville turn into a Jacket for child in Canada? While these are cool to show on the web site....it's even more rewarding to think we can get more people to simply think about other person period." Says Jones.

On November 30th, Jones and Havens launched their "Global Experiment in Human Kindness". They have incorporated with social network sites, Facebook and Twitter and their followers are growing.
