Gubernatorial Candidates to Highlight 12th Annual Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce Breakfast

Dec. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- The Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce (GBCC) will hold the 12th Annual Legislative Prayer Breakfast Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, located at 265 Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta.  This year’s event is chaired by Emanuel Jones, State Senator and Chair of the Georgia Black Legislative Caucus and Alicia M. Ivey, President and CEO of Phoenix Global Corporation.

Held each year on the Saturday before the Georgia General Assembly convenes, the breakfast gives elected officials an opportunity to bring essential information to small businesses. The program’s aim is to promote and strengthen the bond of unity among elected officials, corporate partners and business, community and religious leaders from across the state. The theme for this year’s breakfast is “Unity…Diversity…Partnership: Connecting with a Purpose.”

As the state of Georgia prepares to elect a new Governor, all of the gubernatorial candidates have been invited. Confirmed candidates attending are Thurbert Baker, Roy Barnes, Jeff Chapman, DuBose Porter, David Poythress and Austin Scott.  

“We are very excited to have the participation of the gubernatorial candidates as we prepare to embark upon a new legislative year as well as elect a new Governor,” states Anna Henderson, GBCC’s President.  “The prayer breakfast presents an awesome opportunity for business owners and legislators alike to come together, put a name with a face and begin the year off with positive energy and inspiration in hopes for a prosperous and productive year.  But just as important is the fact that the candidates are conscious and concerned enough to take time to be a part of the breakfast.  That is very significant,” she adds.
