Hoop Magic Introduces More Than Basketball and Tips Off the High School Season

This Saturday Hoop Magic will be hosting the 1st annual Virginia High School Season Tip Off. This will give fans in the area a chance to see some of their local not as highly pulicized stars as well.

Dec. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Fans, players and coaches alike will also have an opportunity to be properly introduced to the More Than Basketball Management Group. The company was founded by former Hoop Magic Youth Event Director Arize Ifejika who played a key role in the success and notoriety Hoop Magic has received the last few years. "I can never see myself not running events at Hoop Magic" said ifejika, 24, who arrived at Hoop Magic in June 2007 and resigned November 1st. "But I always saw myself establishing my own empire as any young businessman hopes to do." Ifejika who also manages an up and coming gogo band New Impressionz and has a clothing line called Swagger and Substance.

The event will not have the traditional feel of a High School Showcase as New Impressionz will be performing between games and at halftime. "I think everyone will be presently surprised by how New Impressionz really is what their name says a "New Impression" of gogo music" says Ifejika. Ifejika also says that he will use this opportunity to get information out about a college tour he is running that will take students to Tallahassee Community College, Florida State and his alma mateur Florida A&M University.

The event is five games four boys 1 girl game, times and schedule are as follows..

GAME SCHEDULE & Inside the match ups

TIME                        HOME TEAM                                         AWAY TEAM

NOON (girls)            Stonewall Jackson                                   Princeton Day
A match up that is sure to kick the event off right as Kiyani White (Stonewall Jackson, Virginia Tech Commit) leads her team against a Princeton Day team who welcomed a host of transfers to the school over the summer and are primed for action.

1:40pm                    Stonewall Jackson                                   Potomac (VA)
This is a very intriguing match up as both teams best player (Justin Burrell, Potomac, Mt St Marys commit and Darren Warren, Stonewall Jackson)  transferred into the schools for their Junior year. They both came into high school with big time reputations and oddly enough they both transferred from Paul VI after starting in the back court with one another two years ago. With this being both of their senior seasons they both hope to have great seasons starting with a win here.

3:20pm                    Ballou (defending DCIAA champion)                                           Carver
As opposed to the 1:40 game these two teams are polar opposites. Ballou comes in with the pedigree having won the DCIAA title last year and return their core group of guys. Carver on the other hand is rebuilding and has a young team. Don't feel sorry for them though because they are a feisty group and bring that never quit tough Baltimore grit with them.

5pm                        Atlantic Shores                                      Princeton Day
This will probably be the most fun to watch game of the day as both teams love to push the tempo and score in bunches. Had Duke guard Andre Dawkins not decided to leave a year early the score probably would have reached the hundreds. But Atlantic Shores is still equipped with scorers like Brandon Britt (William & Mary commit).

6:40pm                    Freedom Woodbridge                      Friendship Collegiate
In the final game of the day Freedom who return EVERY player from last years team as well as some notable transfers takes on a Friendship team who has arguably the areas best guard in Depaul commit Brandon Young. If Young is his usual scoring and assisting self Freedom could be in for a long night especially with Curtis Symonds Jr transferring in and boosting the backcourt. But Freedom is hungry and determined to prove not only that they are a viable opponent but that they are the frontrunner in their league.

The price is $10 for adults $5 for students.
