Lexington International Retains Renowned Brazilian Expert on Hair Disorders as Medical Director

Dec. 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Boca Raton, FL – Lexington Intl, LLC, manufacturer of the HairMax LaserComb, the only laser phototherapy device FDA 510(k) cleared for marketing for hair growth, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Maria Muricy, dermatologist and a hair restoration surgeon as the Medical Director for the Brazilian market.  Dr. Muricy is a principal of the Muricy Clinic in Sao Paulo and Curituba, Brazil and she is recognized as one of the outstanding specialists in the country in the treatment of hair disorders.

Dr. Muricy has extensively studied the mechanism of action of laser phototherapy as provided by the HairMax LaserComb.  Using immunohistochemistry markets, Dr. Muricy has documented the effects of lasers on cellular apoptosis and cell proliferation.  She has also conducted studies comparing the efficacy of laser phototherapy in conjunction with minoxidil lotion in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA).  One study was conducted with 52 men and women with AGA and compared the results of the uses of the HairMax LaserComb alone, of minoxidil alone, and concomitant use of both modalities.

Dr. Muricy commenting on the results of this study stated: “The HairMax LaserComb used in combination with minoxidil is significantly more effective than use of minoxidil alone.”  Dr. Muricy also said: “We are so impressed with the results of the laser therapy, that we include the HairMax LaserComb as an integral part of our hair growth regimen and instruct each of our hair transplant patients to use the HairMax post therapy.
