Follow on Google News | Senior Author Publishes His Third Book at Age 89You're never too old to learn new skills. At an age when many men are content to watch old movies on TV, George Eddy has just published his third book. Now, at the age of 89, he's got his own Web site and he's learning to use Facebook and Twitter.
By: George Eddy, author "You're never too old to learn something new," he says. “I started racing sailboats at age 40. Now that I’m in my eighties, writing books and learning about publishing and marketing keeps me sharp. Any success I enjoy translates into a donation to Alzheimer’s research in my wife's name." Never one to live a mundane life, George Eddy and Kay, his beloved wife of 66 years, had interesting careers—hers as an acclaimed artist and founder of craft galleries, his as a magazine publisher for The New York Times Company. They lived in glamorous New York City, raised three children, traveled widely, raced sailboats, and enjoyed hunting and skiing. In 1978, they were the only Americans Fidel Castro ever allowed to sail into Cuba, where they were warmly welcomed! Now the couple lives in an Assisted Living community in San Francisco. George is in a wheelchair following a stroke, and Kay is in the dementia wing, battling Alzheimer's disease. "While my body is confined after a very active life, God has blessed me with an alert mind and memory and it's a challenge to try and succeed in this new venture," George says. George's three books chronicle his life. His newest title, "A Romance Forever," shares the story of his romantic wartime courtship and 66-year marriage. "Fly Boy" recounts his adventures as a young Naval Aviator during World War II. "Who's Steering?" describes his 20 years of sailboat racing adventures. Together, these books paint a vivid picture of life for a member of "the greatest generation," "I started out wanting to share my life story with family and friends," says George. "But I've found that many others can relate to the times I've lived through and the adventures I've had." All three books are available at Amazon.com and www.GeorgeEddyAuthor.com. Profits from "A Romance Forever" will go to Alzheimer's Disease Research. # # # About George Eddy: At the age of 89, George Eddy has just published his third book, "A Romance Forever," about his exciting life and love for 66 years.
