Dec. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- Why not?

This touchscreen phone that uses AMOLED technology and manufactured by one of the biggest mobile phones manufacturer in the world was first launched in the IFA 2009 in Berlin. It was first seen in Samsung’s Russian website and reports were rife that it was already being sold in other European countries, particularly Spain.  Its side slider with the full QWERTY keyboard is its unique feature. The 262k touch screen with its 240 x 320 resolution makes viewing the phone possible even when exposed directly to sunlight. It is quad band so it operates in 850/950/1800/1900 GSM.

Organizing your life for your convenience

Majority of people need alarm clocks and calculator and the Samsung B3410’s organizer has these two essential things and so much more. Its organizer also includes converter, world clock, stop watch and to do list among other things.

The Samsung B3410 has polyphonic ring tones and allows the download of MP3 tones as well. It has Java games and has the capbility to download games from the Internet.

It allows users 30 numbers each for Dialed, Received and Missed calls and can store up to 1000 phone book entries in its 30MB shared memory that can be expandable with its MicroSD card slot.

It has a mobile email service that allows users to receive and send email. Likewise, it also has MMS and SMS. The other media features include MP3 player that can also play MP4 videos, FM radio and a point and shoot style 2.0 mega pixel camera.

It has Bluetooth 2.1 and a pre-installed application called BT Messenger. It allows USB connection using docsis 2. It has class 10 GPRS and EDGE.

What are class 10 GPRS and EDGE?

According to Wikipedia, GPRS or General Packet Radio Service is a packet oriented mobile data service available to 2G cellular communications, GSM, as well as 3G communication. Its data transfer is typically charged per megabyte of traffic transferred A Class 10 GPRS has 80 k/bits for downloads and 20 k/bits for uploads

EDGE on the other hand means Enhanced Data rates for GSM evolution, is a backward-compatible digital mobile phone technology that allows improved data transmission rate. It creates a broadband like internet experience for the mobile phone user.

The Samsung B3410, even with all of its features and benefits can not be considered as a smart phone since it lacks applications considered essential in Smart phones. It has no HSDPA, 3G and Wifi-Broadband capabilities. The low-resolution camera would be discouraging for users who enjoy picture taking.

The main crowd drawer

An apparent upgrade from the B3310, this mobile phone is primarily designed for heavy texters since the full QWERTY keyboard with its four rows of keys makes texting very convenient. Its integrated support allows browsing of social networking websites like Facebook, Friendster, Flickr, Picasa and Myspace possible. It also allows the transfer of data through Bluetooth application.

This is perfect for the younger crowd who just needs mobile phones for keeping in touch with friends without the burden of costly premiums and upgrades. The sleek Samsung B3410 is expected to retail for around £140. It is also available for post subscription plans ranging from £10 to £30.
