Dec. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- GGR UNIC’s sales rocketed this November with the sale of five cranes in the UK in quick succession.  The mini crawler crane supplier has reported sales nearing last year’s levels – which saw them feature in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 for the second year running – and is set for an extremely strong end of year, despite the current economic climate.

The company’s November international sales are also showing no signs of slowing down, with 22 cranes being sold across six countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Abu Dhabi and the Czech Republic.

GGR delivered a URW-094 to Arco Engineering in Essex, a URW-095 spider crane to Mars Petcare in Melton Mowbray, two URW-295 to Burnley Council and Dowlen Technic Limited and a URW-376 to Wise Steelwork in Oxfordshire, within days of each other.

Mars Petcare produces well known pet foods such as Whiskas and Pedigree from its Melton Mowbray location.  The petrol LPG crane is 415 volt, with a searcher hook option, and will be used for maintenance of the production line.  The Mars team who will be operating the crane also attended GGR’s specialist training centre for A66 CPCS training.

Burnley Council bought a URW 295 crane, mainly for the purpose of lifting and resetting fallen grave stones, an application for which GGR UNIC mini cranes have become increasingly popular, following on from their use at Yardley Memorial in Birmingham.  GGR also supplied the stone lifting clamp to minimize manual handling.

Steel fabricators and erectors Wise Steelwork, in Oxfordshire, offers steel fabrication and steel erection services, specializing in more complex contracts, often with difficult access.  Keith Gresty, managing director at Wise Steelwork, commented: “We’ve got an extremely high profile job at a luxury hotel in London and knew there was no other way of getting the steel into place without GGR’s URW-376.  It’ll be extremely useful for all areas of our business and we’re very pleased with it already.  We were delighted with the quality of the service we received during the handover of the machine as well as after sales backup.  We’re so pleased that we’ve promised to buy Gill and Graeme Riley a bottle of champagne at our local pub!”

The compact size of the cranes means that these mini spider cranes are the best and often the only machines for the job, due to the confined working areas.

Graeme Riley, chief executive officer of GGR commented: “With increasingly strong sales despite the unfortunate current economic climate, GGR’s position as number one in the industry is unquestionable. Coupled with unrivalled customer service, GGR UNIC continues to demonstrate that our machinery is both practical and innovative in a huge array of lifting situations – the best fit for the job.”

GGR UNIC is home to the world’s most compact mini cranes, which provides lifting solutions where space and access are restricted.   GGR UNIC is part of The GGR Group, consisting of six brands – GGR UNIC, GGR Glass, GGR Galizia, GGR AirLift, GGR Cladding and GGR Rail.  The GGR Group is Europe’s leading supplier of vacuum handling equipment, restricted access lifting machinery and mini cranes, along with a variety of complementary products and services.
