Dec. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- Vertu introduced a new line in the collection of luxury mobile phones, Ascent Ti Damascus Steel. The Damascus Steel Ascent Ti is made using an ancient steel forging method which consists of continuous folding and hammer-forging to improve the strength and hardness of the metal.

This method was used to create blades including the Japanese Samurai, Franconian and Indian Wootz swords during different periods of time in history. Vertu Ascent Ti – Support GSM cellular networks and UMTS, Series 40 platform, 3-MP camera, a display with a resolution 240h320 points and 4 GB of internal memory.

The Vertu brand (a Nokia subsidiary) is well known for having launched, over the years, a fairly extensive lineup of various high-end mobile phones, most of which have become, at least on certain markets, a sign of one's social status. And the manufacturer is not about to stop now, as it has come up with yet another limited edition in its Ascent TI series, namely the Damascus Steel model.

As the guys over at Sybarites inform us, the Damascus Steel Ascent Ti from Vertu is apparently manufactured using an ancient steel forging method, which consists of continuous folding and hammer-forging to improve the strength and hardness of the metal, a technique also used for the manufacture of all sorts of swords, including the famous Japanese Samurai blades.http://www.luxcellphone.com

In order to make it stand out from the crowd, the new Vertu handheld sports a swirl design that has been etched by hand, which translates into the fact that, practically, each single item from this limited series is a unique product.

Although no technical info has been provided regarding the new Damascus Steel model, it's very likely that the mobile phone will share some of the features of the other devices from the Ascent TI series, including here 3G and Quadband GSM coverage worldwide, Bluetooth, a 3-megapixel embedded camera with auto-focus and integrated flash, as well as a 4GB memory module. Size will probably be the same, namely 115.5mm x 49mm, at a weight of roughly 160 grams.

As mentioned above, what we're dealing with here is a limited edition series, meaning that only 100 units will be produced, one piece being set to arrive in each Vertu store around the world. Sadly, no pricing information has been made available, but don't expect these things to be cheap, by any standards.
