Dec. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- Trade Winds Family Medicine LLC, a family medicine clinic dedicated to bringing an on-time, personalized “no wait, no rush” model of patient care to Hawaii’s residents, today announced that starting on Tuesday December 1, 2009 from 6 to 7PM they will commence a community lecture series, “Ask Your Family Doctor”, to be held on the first 3 Tuesdays of December at its Kailua clinic located at the Pali Palms Plaza. The lectures are free and open to the public and are intended to educate members of the community on health issues that affect everyday lives.

“We are looking forward to offering this valuable educational service to the community on issues that matter most to Hawaii residents,” said Dr. Kimberly Lund. “Our goal at Trade Winds is to dramatically improve the health and welfare of our community and we hope that an ongoing lecture series and open discussion will help play a part in improving the health of members of our community for the betterment of all. We have chosen to begin the lecture series discussing H1N1 as its impact is felt by almost everyone whether they are personally affected by the disease or affected by the precautionary efforts put forth to head off the pandemic.”

Tuesday, December 1, 2009   “Ask Your Family Doctor” Lecture Series - H1N1: What does it mean for me and my family?   This lecture will cover the risks, effects and preventative measures for this abnormally fast-spreading strain of flu that has reached pandemic proportions. Presented by Dr. Kimberly Lund, DO.  Lecture begins promptly at 6PM and is approximately 1 hour in length.

Tuesday, December 8, 2009   “Ask Your Family Doctor” Lecture Series – Childhood Vaccines: Understanding the Controversy.   This discussion will cover the myth and facts surrounding childhood vaccines. Presented by Leocadia Conlon, PA-C, MPH. Lecture begins promptly at 6PM and is approximately 1 hour in length.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009   “Ask Your Family Doctor” Lecture Series – Osteoporosis: Can osteoporosis affect me?  This discussion will cover the risks of osteoporosis, what it could mean for you, and what preventative and treatment options are available to you. Presented by Dr. Elaine Colby, MD.  Lecture begins promptly at 6PM and is approximately 1 hour in length.

Each discussion will be held at Trade Winds’ clinic located in the Pali Palms Plaza, 970 N. Kalaheo Avenue, Suite C-306 near Pinky’s in Kailua.  While RSVP is not required for attendance, a phone call to the clinic indicating your desire to attend would assist the staff in ensuring that sufficient seating is available for all who would like to attend. If you have special needs please contact the clinic staff to coordinate assistance at least 48 hours before the scheduled lecture time. Ample free parking is provided.

Trade Winds’ Family Medicine is a veteran- and women-owned small business.  It was founded in 2009 by Dr. Kimberly Lund, DO, to promote a new model of patient care for Hawaii’s residents.
