Dec. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- BOULDER, Colorado — The Tea Spot’s mission to modernize age-old tea traditions with modern designs led to today’s launch of their newest Steepware® product, the Glass Infusions Teapot. This exquisite 16 oz glass teapot with porcelain infuser is handcrafted in Japan. The Tea Spot’s founder and CEO, Maria Uspenski, was inspired by the culture of art and teaware that she found surrounding the tea tradition in Japan and “the aesthetic sensibility of teaware that’s typically used as everyday kitchen utensils helping to keep a population healthy with daily infusions of fresh green teas.” Uspenski says that “The superb manufacture of this teapot enhances the tea experience as it brings visual appeal and enjoyment to the steeping process. Adapting this aesthetic to bring the Glass Infusions Teapot to our customers here in the West falls right in line with our mission of making loose leaf tea an everyday luxury.”

The Glass Infusions Teapot is a fine example of Japan’s high standards in quality and respect for craftsmanship. This hand-blown glass teapot is both delicate and durable, indicative of Japan's renowned glass blowing skills. Glazed with The Tea Spot’s signature swirl design - an unfurling tea leaf - adds a fun, modern touch to steeping tea. The ultra-fine holes of the ceramic infuser help create a clean infusion of tea by keeping the tea leaf bits contained  within the steeping basket.

In honor of the Japanese tea tradition, The Tea Spot is offering a free sample of Sencha with each purchase of the Glass Infusions Teapot. It is said that the Buddhist monk Eichū personally prepared and served Sencha, a green tea, when he first introduced tea to Japan in the 9th century. Retailing for $49.95, the teapot is dishwasher-safe and 100% lead and cadmium-free. Due to limited quantities and manufacturing lead time, the Glass Infusions Teaspot is available exclusively at The Tea Spot’s online shop at theteaspot.com.
