Debby Chaddick thought she had achieved a healthy integration of faith, intellect and overall health in her happy life as a wife, mother, high school psychology teacher, and activist. That perception slammed into an immovable barrier when she was diagnosed with a chronic pain disorder nearly nine years ago. She was surprised to find that the words of comfort offered by friends and acquaintances felt inappropriate.

“I’ve spent most of the last decade questioning and challenging what I thought was the ‘truth,’” she recalled, “and what emerged was a stronger, more hopeful, faith.”
She hopes that readers who are suffering will use her words to begin their own hopeful journeys, secure in the knowledge that God’s love is for everyone. She acknowledges that there are no easy answers but believes that easy answers are overrated.
