Follow on Google News | Car Donations Add to the Holiday SpiritAs we enter the holiday season, car donors add to the seasonal spirit as they rush to get car donations in before the end of the year, making sure they reap tax deductions for 2009 – and their charities benefit from the holiday rush of donations.
By: Harlan Editorial, Inc. “It’s the busy season here at our car donation offices,” says Cars 4 Causes® executive director Pat Jessup. “In fact, the seasonal rise in vehicle donations has become part of the holiday spirit for us.” The holiday rush boosts the energy and excitement at the offices of the charity. Cars 4 Causes® is known as The Charity That Gives To Charities® because that is exactly what it does. A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Cars 4 Causes® accepts car donations nationwide. Those donations then benefit charities throughout the world. “Now more than ever, charities need the help of generous donors,” says Jessup. She explains that when someone donates a car to Cars 4 Causes®, they can choose any qualifying charity to benefit from their generosity. “So far, our list of approved charities runs to over 13,400 charities, with more being added as donors request them and as charities ask to be included,” she says. “Almost all are in more need this year than in previous years. That’s why we’re so thrilled – maybe even more than usual – this holiday season, to see the vehicle donations coming through the door. And we accept all types of vehicles, not just cars,” she adds. “People can donate almost anything that is considered transportation – from an RV to a truck to a motorcycle to a boat. All of the vehicles count as charitable donations.” The year 2009 has brought the possibility of making a car donation into the public consciousness. The Cash for Clunkers program (AKA the Car Allowance Rebate System, CARS), made headlines – positive and negative – throughout its implementation. According to Jessup, too, once their minds were set on getting rid of an old or simply used car, some car owners did a bit of further research and discovered the tax benefits of donating a car. Cars 4 Causes®, "The Charity That Gives To Charities"® is a non-profit, IRS Code 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity. # # # Website Words that Work. http://www.web- End
