The arrogance of wealthy empire states, often disguised as patriotism even within the Christian community, is shown to be a repeated undoing of decadent societies, which suggests immediate actions are needed to respond to the late hour of God's call for repentance, as well as how the Bible reveals how God uses wicked men to first secure the attention of His people, and then as a tool of judgment if they persist in rebellion.
