Nov. 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Alex Defaux is a beautiful young woman who has it all—a great career as a researcher in Human Biology and a devoted boyfriend, Jamie.

Alex’s residence suits her perfectly: a narrowboat, Marianne, moored on the River Thames in London.  A new job awaits her at the University of Bath, but she wants a break before moving to a new life with new responsibilities.

She and Jamie decide to take Marianne on a cruise over the watershed between the Thames and the Bristol Avon.  Jamie is back from a grueling tour of duty as an officer in the Territorial Army, which he resolutely refuses to talk about.  Jamie hopes the cruise will give the two a chance to rebuild their relationship; Alex fears it is beyond repair.  

Approaching a river lock, they see a young man fall into the water.  Fishing him out, Alex offers him a ride when she hears that he is going their way.  Baz is an animal rights activist and, although friendly, Alex thinks she would be wise not to tell him that her work involves animal experimentation.  But after Jamie leaves in a rage, the tension begins to rise. Alex will find herself crossing more than one watershed in her life and defending not only her convictions, but her life.
