Miziker Entertainment Group announces cast for The Howdy Show and Dinner Extravaganza
Grammy and Emmy Award winning writers and producers combine with local cast to debut all-new Western-themed dinner show in Mesa
In the lead role as Miss Kitty, Lisa Fogel leads a raucous 1880s musical troupe through Gold Rush mining towns. Fogel, who has been performing professionally in Arizona for more than ten years, is no stranger to leading roles. Last season, she appeared as Fantine in Phoenix Theatre’s record-breaking production of Les Miserables, and was awarded the Phoenix Theatre Encore Society’s Best Actress Award for her performance as Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Barbra Streisand, Annie and others in Forbidden Broadway. Also last year, Lisa was part of a creative workshop to develop Gerda’s Lieutenant, a play based on the story of Gerda Weissmann Klein, a Jewish Holocaust survivor. At Theatre 4301 in Scottsdale, Fogel played Patsy Cline in Always, Patsy Cline and originated the role of Anita in the U.S. premiere of Girls Night, which went on to tour in Wisconsin, Illinois and California.
Fogel is supported by a cast of four equally talented performers. Chantel Parsons plays Goldie, Nikki Oakes plays Miss Sue, and Mark Shannon and Jeff Dolan play Slim and Two Gun, respectively.
San Diego native and current Maricopa resident Shandi Mortensen is the alternate for the female roles and Kyle Bennett of South Phoenix has been selected for the alternate for the male roles.
Jim Bates is the director and choreographer for the show. A Los Angeles native, Bates grew up in the entertainment world. After appearing in his first film at age 3, he went on to appear in films and television through his teens. In addition he was one of the original chimney sweeps in the film Mary Poppins. It was during his film school years at the University of Southern California that Bates’ interest moved into producing and directing shows.
Upon graduation, Bates quickly moved into the world of network television. His long list of choreography credits include: The American Teacher Awards/Disney (Emmy nomination); Macy’s Thanksgiving Parades/NBC, The Lucy Show/CBS, The New Mickey Mouse Club/Disney, The Flip Wilson Series/NBC, Christmas in Washington/NBC, Christmas at The Grand Ole Opry/ABC, John Denver Specials/ABC, Kraft Music Halls/NBC, The Mac Davis Series/, The Dolly Parton Series/ABC, The Emmy Awards/ABC, Neil Diamond Specials/ABC, The US Olympic Festival, North Carolina /ESPN, The American Music Awards/ABC along with the televised Presidential Galas for Presidents Reagan, Clinton and Bush and the CBS-TV Celebration of The Century hosted by Will Smith in Washington DC.

Also active in concert production, Bates has worked with, staged and directed shows for entertainers like Brandi, Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond, Chris Brown, Kenny Chesney, Usher and Il Divo.
