Art director Maximillian Mark Medina created THE BAD PANDA character in early 2007 as a symbolic antithesis of all cute mass-marketed fictitious characters. The concept of THE BAD PANDA is to deconstruct and remix the stereotypical perception of "cute" into an ongoing multimedia social experiment that is at once frank and comedic. As an extension of this endeavor, THE BAD PANDA was exclusively licensed to SPANGU for development of their debut iPhone app.
SPANGU was founded in California in 2009 by three partners focused on a common goal of creating unique and compelling, quality apps previously unseen in the crowded iPhone app market. THE BAD PANDA app is the first to be released out of several apps in the works.
