“NWP is excited to be able to bring GridPlex’s Smart Energy infrastructure to the multifamily industry,” said Michael Radice, president and CEO of NWP Services Corporation. “Our relationship will enable multifamily communities and their residents the use of innovative intelligent control over electricity usage while lowering costs. It will also allow multifamily communities to produce their own sustainable power on-site with the integration of alternative energy sources, including wind, solar, fuel cells, and thermal storage to further reduce expense,” added Radice. “We are extremely pleased to be working with an established leader such as NWP to bring our technology to the multifamily housing industry”, stated Larry Silverman, Chairman of GridPlex, “and especially to be introducing it together at the National Multi Housing Council’s Apartment Technology Conference,” GridPlex offers Smart Energy Intelligent MicroGrid systems which combine on-site power generation, storage, distribution, smart metering, and automation control of consumption devices. Systems can be centrally or locally managed and also linked to the utility power grid. A typical Intelligent MicroGrid System from NWP and GridPlex will offer property owners, managers and residents Smart Automation Controllers that connect with energy producing, storage and consuming devices at communities such as HVAC, electric water heaters, lighting, and appliances. In addition, each resident will be able to track their energy and water use, as well as their conservation performance, through a web-based portal that will show them their use and cost of energy and water, as well as their “carbon footprint”. From the web portal, residents and managers will also be able to turn devices on, off, or adjust settings in response to threshold conditions, schedules or individual preferences. Representatives from NWP and GRIDPLEX will be in attendance at the upcoming National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC) Apartment Technology Conference to be held November 8-10 at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.
