The John Rex Endowment Selects 13 Nonprofits for Capacity Building Initiative Grants

Nov. 5, 2009 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C. - The John Rex Endowment announces 13 new grants, totaling $123,559, which will be funded through an ongoing, long-term Capacity Building Initiative. The grants include capacity building implementation as well as organizational assessment planning projects which aim to enhance an organization’s ability to sustain programs and improve performance.

Three of the grants will support capacity building implementation projects such as board development and improved communications through Web site and technology enhancements.  The organizations receiving funds for capacity building implementation include:

•   Boys & Girls Clubs of Wake County
•   Community Partnerships, Inc.
•   Haven House

Ten other nonprofits will receive organizational assessment planning grant funds which are designated to help build infrastructure and operations efficiency for long-lasting benefits, even after the grants’ terms have ended. The following nonprofit organizations will receive funding:  

•   Alliance of Disability Advocates Center for Independent Living
•   Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle
•   Girls on the Run Triangle
•   Lucy Daniels Center for Early Childhood
•   Riley Hill Family Life Center
•   SAFEchild
•   Strengthening the Black Family, Inc.
•   The Arc of Wake County
•   Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network
•   Wake Teen Medical Services
