M.o.m. For America To Offer “story Time For Congress”

M.O.M.s are going to Capitol Hill to the read 1,990-page House Health Care Reform bill to members of Congress on Wednesday, November 4, 2009.

Nov. 3, 2009 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mothers concerned about the future of their children and families in Obama’s “New America” will gather at the Nation’s Capitol to meet with their Representatives and read the enormous health care reform bill within the 72 hour window announced by Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  “As Moms we understand the gigantic task of reading such a large bill in the short time provided, so we decided to come to Washington to help our Representatives by reading it and voice our opposition to it,” said Leigh-Ann Bellew, National Spokesperson and Communications Coordinator for the group.

"M.O.M. for America was founded for the millions of mothers in the United States concerned about the future of our country,” said Leigh-Ann Bellew. “We oppose the short notice the public and our Representatives are being given to read this bill before it is brought to the floor.  How can we be assured that any member of the House has taken the time required to read and digest this bill in its entirety before debating and voting on it?"

According to Mrs. Bellew, “The goal is to have mothers, grandmothers and other concerned citizens visit with their elected representation in Washington, D.C. to express our opposition to the Speaker of the House’s decision to rush this bill to the floor before the American people can fully absorb the nearly 2,000 pages of legislation and understand how it will affect the quality of their families’ health care.”

Those interested in joining are encouraged to visit the web site at www.MOMforAmerica.net and make a commitment to read a portion of the bill. By going to the Capitol to meet with their Representatives, the group aims to encourage lawmakers to, “Stand up for our rights, and uphold the promises they made to their constituents when they sworn and oath to uphold the Constitution,” said Bellew. “Moms from across the country are encouraged to join us as we organize and share the information we gather with our neighbors, family and friends.”
