Follow on Google News | Hey Dillon Wins Platinum Reel“Hey Dillon,” the fifth film directed by award winning director, Dean J. Augustin, was honored with a Platinum Reel Award at the 2009 Nevada Film Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Nevada Film Festival is the Silver State’s annual celebration of the very best in American and international cinema, bringing together top independent filmmakers, growing audiences and the film industry professionals who make it all possible. “It’s truly an honor to recognized by the Nevada Film Festival jury,” says the McKinney-based filmmaker. This is the fourth time Augustin has been honored for his work. His second film, “The Enemy,” was named Best Documentary at 2004 George Lindsey UNA Film Festival. Hey Dillon is the story of Dallas Radio Icon Brett Dillon. Dillon, a fixture at Dallas’ KHYI for over 12 years, is featured in the 72 minute documentary. The story centers on Brett’s battles with corporations, technology, and his inner-demons to continue as - The Last Great DJ. The documentary features 15 songs by some of the best Americana artists in Texas, and the original song “The Last Great DJ” by McKinney, Texas and Nashville singer song/writer Austin Cunningham. “Hey Dillon” was filmed at various location in Dallas and McKinney and includes some spectacular footage shot at McKinney’s Cotton Mill. “I was looking for a fusion of technology with the ‘roots’ of Americana music.” says Augustin. “The Cotton Mill was the largest denim manufacture in the world until technology and globalization forced its closing. It’s a metaphor for what’s happening to radio DJ’s.” Hey Dillon – The Last Great DJ is available on DVD at Amazon.com, CreateSpace.com, or at the website Heydillon.com. MORE INFORMATION Dean J.
